Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC), recognized by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities as one of the 50 best youth programs nationally, is an after school program that offers high school students a multi-disciplinary, intensive and sustained exploration of NYC arts offerings, and teaches them how to critically write about their experiences. They improve language, writing and critical thinking skills; deepen their understanding of the arts; study with acclaimed critics and artists and experiment with their own creativity and artistry― all free of charge. Working under the supervision of ArtsConnection’s Director of Programs, the TRaC Program Manager is responsible for the planning, conceptualization and daily administration of TRaC, its web presence, the Freelancers Corps and the monthly Pizza and a Movie film discussion series. They will also work in partnership with staff to build teen engagement with other ArtsConnection Teen Programs and events.
Specific duties include:
Hiring and managing workshop instructors
Overseeing curriculum planning and evaluation processes
Recruiting students and creating promotional materials
Developing and managing new and existing cultural and programmatic partnerships
Facilitating outreach for ticket/event requests
Editing and publishing content and program information with teens and on teens.artsconnection.org
Updating various social media outlets
Collaborating with ArtsConnection’s staff on various initiatives
Grant reporting and presenting
Managing a program intern
The ideal candidate:
is a strong writer
is well organized, flexible, and easily adapts to change
is able to work independently and as a team-player
is very comfortable with public speaking
is capable of developing curricula, as well as teaching workshops
is familiar and comfortable with various web platforms and digital technologies
enjoys working with and mentoring teenagers
is familiar with the NYC Department of Education
has strong ties within the New York arts community
has a BA in the arts, education or journalism
has 3+ years of experience in youth development and/or art education
