Theater Theater programs strengthen
children’s analytical skills through
improvisation, playwriting and
continuous revision.
Puppetry In our puppetry program, students
learn to tell stories, write
dialogue, develop characters,
and craft puppets and backdrops
while strengthening literacy.
In designing and creating scenery
for a group performance, children
learn to work as a team and
provide peers with constructive
feedback based on close
observation.

give parents, caregivers, and other family
members the opportunity to sample art-making
activities while getting to know their children’s
Teaching Artists.

In-school visual arts residences encourage early
elementary students to explore their imagination and
express individual identity through painting, drawing
and sculpture.

ArtsConnection provides quality arts learning experiences in over 100 K-12 New York City public schools annually.  We work in partnership with schools to custom design programs that:

  • Facilitate student learning in dance, music, theater and visual arts

  • Build Common Core capacities

  • Engage families and communities

Residenciesresidencies

Residencies are tailored to meet the goals of schools and the developmental level of students. Each residency includes planning and reflection time among teachers and artists. Residencies can occur during the school day in partnership with classroom teachers or as part of an after-school program, and range in length from 10 to 30 sessions.
