Martita is an experienced dancer, choreographer, director, and teacher with a proven track record of deepening ecological literacy through movement projects that highlight and integrate whole body mind approach. Extensive experience in social reform initiatives which include creating a non-profit organization, Turtles, Inc. and Earthworks that is known for its multilayered dance theatre dealing with global concerns interwoven with compelling autobiographical themes. Her university years were spent volunteering for Ralph Nader, Robert Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s nonviolent community outreach projects. The Vietnam War and the turmoil of inner city riots all became influencing factors leading her to search for ways to make a difference in a nation wrought with fragmentation and alienation. She served as a founding member of Dancers Responding to AIDs. Martita is specialized in creating social and cultural bridges through the arts and movement. She has been a resident artist and master teacher with ArtsConnection since 2002.
