Growing Inclusivity for Vibrant Engagement (GIVE), is a partnership which started in 2018, between ArtsConnection, the New Victory Theater, and the Community-Word Project, and made possible with support from the New York Community Trust. The aim of the project is to provide free resources to Teaching Artists in the creation of liberated learning environments, and vibrant arts experiences for every child in a classroom.
GIVE has been incredibly busy over the last year, delivering holistic and comprehensive professional development and professional learning opportunities through its collaboration with the NYC Department of Education. Starting in February 2022, and going through June of this year, we are delivering 20 ‘Teach with GIVE’ Professional Development workshops both in-person and online, reaching over 800 arts specialists, arts teachers and liaisons, teaching artists, paraprofessionals and administrators, as well as arts education organizations and grant recipients of the Multilingual Learners/Students with Disabilities (MLL/SWD) grant.www.teachwithgive.org, we continue to improve and expand our offerings. And while GIVE resources have been developed with arts educators in mind, they can be used by and would benefit all teachers and educators. School educators interested in our GIVE Department of Education Workshops can add their name to our email list here or by visiting https://forms.gle/dFeb9RFX4hXJ7haD9. Please share this resource with any educators or teaching artists in your networks.
Our close working relationship with the NYC DOE provides us the space and opportunity to respond to the needs of a variety of stakeholders, from administrators to teaching artists to paraprofessionals, and customize each training session or series accordingly. From workshops focused on subjects like inclusion; classroom management; and artistic equity; to name a few, to presentations at conferences like the ACES Fair; to refining our website with user-friendly tools and resources,
