TEEN PROGRAMS SPRING FINALE AT GOVERNORS ISLAND

We kick-off our Governors Island Organization in Residence on May 20th with a celebration of the creativity of NYC teens.

At the center of our Spring Teen Programs Finale is the exhibition opening of “Naked : Truth” curated by this year’s Teens Curate Teens (TCT) cohort who studied the art of curating in their semester-long program. Showcasing the interests and concerns of young people, the exhibit theme “The Body. Your Interpretation. Your Voice” explores aspects that drive personality and self-identity “making you the person you are.” The theme was informed and inspired by the results from a fall survey sent out to teens throughout NYC. Past TCT exhibits have explored themes like teen mental health, gun violence, Black Lives Matter, climate change, and more.

In addition to the TCT exhibition, the event will celebrate program work from all our spring Teen Programs: OnTRaC: College & Career Readiness; Teens Reviewers & Critics (TRaC); Sony Music Makers; Arts-Making Trac; Skill Building Workshops; Pizza and a Movie; and our Teen Advisory Council.

We look forward to seeing you on the island.
